Pastor Ed - On the Banks of the Jordan
Joshua is one of my favorite books of the Bible. It begins with Joshua and the Israelites standing on the banks of the Jordan, facing the unknown. Across the river is the Promised Land. It is good. It is theirs. But, it is not easy. All they have to do is cross the river, defeat a bunch of people in war, and claim the land.
Often times in life we find ourselves standing on the banks of the Jordan, facing an uncertain future. We have a choice to make. We can either keep wondering where we are and complaining or we can step across into what God has for us. Although it may not be easy and can be frightening, we trust in a God that sees the future. The Israelites faced an uncertain future in the Promised Land, but God was not surprised. The future was, and still is, in His hands.
I am so thankful for a God who knows the future. During every part of my life, I can trust Him. This is true personally, in my family, in my church, and in my ministry. He has proven faithful and always will.
Joshua ends with the challenge to choose who you will serve. I am thankful to serve a faithful God and will choose to follow him daily.
