A Different Kind of Summer - Pastor Ed

Normally I write my June newsletter article reminding you to pray for our Vacation Bible School, mission trips to Haiti and Canada, and for our July camps on the mountain. This summer will be different. Vacation Bible School will still be held. Both mission trips have been cancelled and we are still uncertain if there will be camp on the mountain. However, I am confident that summer ministry at Boyd Avenue will continue. It will just look a little different. We will minister to those children who choose to come to VBS. We will still pray for our partnerships in Haiti and Canada and work toward a December trip to Haiti. We will assist with work on Mountain Top Baptist Assembly whether we have camp or not. We will continue to get our new building ready for a fall opening. We will love and serve our community. We will be the hands and feet of Jesus.

As you read this article, help me discover new opportunities for the summer. It has been a while since my June and July have not been planned out for me. Discover places of ministry that we have not participated in before. Maybe some of you are like me and summers have been crazy. Take some time to enjoy the beauty of our great state. Go for a drive or a hike. Spend some time praying as you do these things. Spend time with family and friends. Enjoy time together.

I like my busy summers and they will continue again in the future. In the meantime, I plan on taking advantage of what God may have for me this summer. Whatever that may be. This summer will not be wasted because it is different. It will be used by God differently for His great purposes. Of that, I am confident.
