How Do We Be the Church? --Pastor Ed

Almost a year and a half ago we began the process as a church to discover who we want to be moving into the future. That first year without a pastor was a great time of reflection and discovery. When spring rolled around, we were prepared to put into action a lot of what we talked about, and then we had our world change with the coronavirus. Now, as fall approaches, who are we going to be?
Let me express how grateful I am for Boyd Avenue Baptist Church. At no point did we ever cease being the church. It has not always been easy, we went weeks without corporate worship, and yet, we still found ways to do ministry. This is a true testament to those who make up our church. Now, it is time to take another step forward in ministry.
Although our world is changing, our mission is the same. Jesus said to go into all the world and make disciples. That is what we are going to do. We will continue to be a Christ-centered church that puts an emphasis on prayer. We will be a welcoming church and provide ministry training and opportunities for us to serve. We will be a church that cares about our community and our world. We will be who God has called us to be.
This fall we will put a lot of focus on being a disciple. We want to be like Jesus and minister as He would have us minister. There is a place in ministry for all those who desire to truly be His disciple. Let us spend some time in discovery, evaluation, and service together. Let’s love each other and those in the world around us. Let’s keep our focus on the mission. Let’s be the church.
