Ministering Together - Pastor Ed

We have spent a lot of time talking about discipleship, ministry, purpose, and what God would have for our church. The past couple of years have been exciting as we continue to be challenged with fulfilling the ministry God has for us. It continues to be my heart’s desire that Christians live for Jesus in such a way that it impacts those around them.

I do not think that everyone needs to do more. That would be unfair. I do think that every Christian should be doing something. God has a purpose for his people and that involves serving in His ministry. Sometimes this is a frustrating for some. The reason for not serving is not the lack of desire, but that they don’t know how or where. They question their ability to serve. If we truly believe that Christians should serve, then we need to help each other find avenues of service.

As part of our vision planning and strategy, we have been refocusing on ministry teams to lead in the many ministry areas of our church. There are several ministry teams that are functioning, but still looking for team members to help them carry out their ministries. There are other areas that we are looking for people who are called to lead in those areas. We just had a great Sunday night of celebration and  hearing from several of these ministries. We spent a weekend doing a workshop to help us find our place in ministry.

I believe with all my heart that God has a place for us. And, as we find those places of service we begin to grow as individuals. As individuals grow, the church becomes stronger. As the church becomes stronger, in has a greater impact on those who come, those in our community and on those around the world. Join me in continuing to seek and pray that we will always be seeking after God and what he has for us. Us as individuals. Us as a church. Boyd Avenue is a fun place to worship and minister together. Join us, not only for a Sunday morning worship service, but in partnership in ministry.
