Continuing the Legacy - Dawn Highum

It is a great joy to watch our children filing down the aisle for the children’s message each Sunday. With expectant faces, they engage with our pastors, building trusting relationships with them while learning a glimpse of the hope, love and sacrifice that Jesus Christ brings. The staff leaves a legacy in each child. I am incredibly honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve alongside the staff and volunteers in the capacity of Director of Children’s Ministry.

In Romans 12:9-13 we read “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil and cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, preserving in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.” Responding to this exhortation, it is my desire to diligently carry the baton in honor of those who have worked so hard in the children’s ministry over the years. They have, and will continue to leave a legacy of devotion and love to each child and family. They worked persistently to build lasting relationships fulfilled by the Holy Spirit and are a great example of this passage in Romans.

By His grace, I hope to establish a leadership team to contribute to the growing needs in the children’s ministry. This leadership team will begin to meet and find ways we can assist each program, ministry and all volunteers so that God is glorified throughout our mission. Our leadership team will be seeking all who may be called to service to complete the mighty work that the Lord has begun in the children. Temporarily or permanently joining one of our programs as a volunteer, leader, teacher, program director or classroom assistant is a great opportunity to serve our children, our church and our King. I prayerfully ask the Body of Christ to consider their role in the children’s legacy at Boyd Avenue and join our ministry team!
